The Lakefront Lodge Backpackers was purpose built with the backpacker in mind. It is modern in design yet blends in with the alpine environment and is the closest backpackers to the beautiful shores of Lake Tekapo and the most popular swimming and boating beach. It is also only a short walk to Tekapo Springs and the Mt John walkway. Over the summer months paddle board and kayak hire is available. It has a modern well equipped kitchen with a large lounge and dining room with Sky TV and a great view of the lake. The outdoor BBQ area is perfect for mixing and mingling and meeting new people. You can pre-booked a free pick up from the Intercity Bus that arrives in Lake Tekapo at 12.05pm. We will pick you up outside the Tekapo Four Square Supermarket and we can also arrange to drop you back at the bus on your departure day. Facilities
The lodge has a modern well equipped with an oven as well. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans etc with two large fridges and a small freezer on the deck at the kitchen door. Two free BBQ's are available for guests to use and a wood burner in the lounge area will keep you toasty in the winter. Feel free to put a log on! Women and men's toilets and showers and a coin operated laundry.
Ensuite Unit
This stand alone ensuite unit is tucked behind the lodge and has a queen bed with its own bathroom. You use the backpackers facilities with an entry door to the backpackers being a short 10 metre walk. This is mainly used as our drivers room so not always available for booking. We have a range of Wi-Fi options available for purchase from reception or with your credit card. Up to five devices at a time. This room is for two people only. This new accessible ensuite unit is at the back of the backpackers. It has a queen bed, table & chairs, Freeview TV, toaster and electric jug and a microwave for basic cooking. It also has air conditioning for those hot days. You have access to the the backpackers kitchen, BBQ area as well as the coin laundry. Please note there is no view from this unit. This unit is available for booking to everyone but if you specifically require an accessible unit then this is the most suitable unit for you. This stand alone tent is our version of posh camping. This spacious belle tent has five single camp beds and comes with your bed made up with your sheets and blankets. It is a shared five bed glamping tent with an electric lamp and facilities for charging your phone. Towels can be hired at $2.00 each from reception. The glamping area is located at the back of the backpackers and basic cutlery, crockery, pots, fry pans, cooking utensils and tea towels are provided in the outside cooking area as well as two BBQ's, gas cookers, microwaves, toaster and electric jugs. You have your own toilets and showers and washing up area. You are welcome to visit friends or use the backpackers lounge and laundry but you must use the glamping cooking are and bathrooms facilities. We are located across the road from the beautiful Lake Tekapo. We are about 500m from Tekapo Springs and 1km from the town village. Just a little further down the road is the famous Church of the Good Shepherd. Being a small town everything is within walking distance if you want to stretch your legs.
Availability
Xmas/New Year - Admittance is at the discretion of management, we don't allow large groups of teens or unaccompanied minors. Please check with reception to avoid disappointment.
