Built specifically for backpacker travellers, the Lakefront Lodge is situated on the shores of the lake with terrific views as far as the eye can see. It's a lovely building – made from wood and stone to blend into the landscape – and sleeps 78 in a variety of room sizes. Many rooms have sliding doors opening on to the veranda, or two the barbecue area with stunning lake views.
The village is just one minute's drive away, or ten minutes on foot. There you will find a supermarket, general store and other shops, along with a fantastic pizzeria and various restaurants. Tekapo Village also has a wealth of tourist operators who can assist you with your New Zealand adventure.
Check-in for the Lakefront Lodge at the holiday park reception. You'll see it on the left as you come down the hill from the village.
Facing the lake, the Lake Tekapo Backpackers Lodge features a huge common room with lovely, natural wooden dining tables and a wood-burner fire – super cosy on cold nights!
Our shared kitchen offers cooking ranges, microwave, fridge, chairs and tables, instant hot water and toasters. It is also fully equipped with pots, pans, crockery and cutlery.
Shared bathroom facilities consists of separate men's and women's areas featuring toilets, showers and wash basins. There's a wheelchair-accessible toilet and shower, too.
Lodge guests have free use of our BBQs and picnic area. Situated in a courtyard facing the lake, with great views of the lake and mountains, this is a great place to cook and eat outside in the fresh air.
A communal laundry has two coin-operated washing machines(($3 per load), both of which dispense washing liquid free of charge. Guests may also use two dryers free of charge.
Lakefront Lodge Backpackers has its own hotspot with different Wi-Fi plans available.
Our plans allow up to five devices at any one time. So you can share with a friend or keep it to yourself. Wi-Fi can be purchased at reception during opening hours or via your credit card after hours.
IAC internet kiosks are also available in the lodge, operated by both $1 and $2 coins.
